PROMOTING LIFE STORIES
OF THE RICH
"Until the Lions have their own historians,
the history of the hunt will always glorify the Hunter. "
Welcome To My Site
& My Storytelling Crusade !
I've dedicated my adult life to using, doing,
and teaching Storytelling for adults.
Yes, it's entertainment, but I'm fascinated by how personal storytelling can also be used as a (free and immediately available!) vehicle for self-development. The group I have dedicated myself to is a group I am part of. Not a group often the focus of creative support or inspiration: working-class adults with daily lives focused on safeguarding their physical and economic survival.
"I didn't fail. It was a learning experience."
That about sums up the long term results of many of the small community and teaching projects I initiated over the years: I've learned a lot from all I have experienced and all I have tried ! With the extra twist of being a Black woman who has moved between different communities, different worlds, and different eras ......
With this site I'm stepping out for the first time to promote myself as a creator of weird stuff ! I'm sharing my creative work to find an audience, as well as students to try out my online lessons. I seek both critiques and collaborators, and to learn about similar work already being done by other artists and teachers !
WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA
I am excited to dialogue with others. I am not excited about spending my limited time doing social media, nor have I ever established a significant or coherent presence on it. So (for now) I'm not linking my site to social media. Instead I'm relying on building my connections through personal connections, one-on-one outreach, posting on my blog, and building an audience for my podcast. I'm comfortable being retro and valuing quality of contact over quantity. And I'm trusting that by announcing my work -- eventually if I persist -- what matches with me in the universe will come to meet me. (Some of that ancient-age-new-age believing !)
In both of my two feature scripts and my series I explore how our past foreshadows our future.
“Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die,
we can't remember who we are or why we're here.”
-- Sue Monk Kidd
